This thing we do called racing is,if as I recall from over thirty years of racing is fraught with all manner of difficulties. Amongst which lurk such a demon as shoal water. When “skippers” knowingly take their crews into shoal water they should be prepared for the difficulties presented. Having the opportunity to race on home waters should be an advantage. Knowing tide tables should also be part of the plan. Not being skillful enough to deal with the problems is not an issue for the rest of the fleet. Especially when so many of the other boats made it through the difficult passage with a minimum of difficulties. having a good cry back at the dock and vowing to be better prepared for whatever the race committee prersents is a far more sportsman like behavior than whinging to the race committee and pointing fingers at everything in sight but at those poorly prepared to handle the situation. It is called racing for a reason and the playing field is level for all of us.
Shame on the race committee for having no guts to stand by their decision to have such a course and deciding to let the whingers have their day.
