About

I’ve created blogcanoe.com to keep an up-to-date resource on Chesapeake Bay Log Canoe racing. My goal is to create an online resource for Log Canoe sailing, by providing Sailing instructions for each regatta hosted by the varius yatch clubs on the Chesapeake Bay, course sheets with marks of each course of each river, scoring sheets, results from each race of each weekend along with my own observations and any other’s input along with lenght of courses and wind conditions. I will also post photo’s I’ve taken from races, photo’s other have sent me along with award ceremonies and trophies. There is a forums provide for any and all to signup and post dicussions to help open canoe community up to other crews and newcomers, it is completely open and everyone is welcome to say anything they would like.

My name is John Jallade, I was born and raised on the Eastern shore so this is a part of me. I grew up around Log Canoes, and my father owned and campaigned the Persistence for many years. My family all crews for the North family who campaign Island Blossom, Jay Dee and Island Bird. I currently sail on the Jay Dee, a boardman along side with my brotherĀ  Jib who tends the fore and my sister Jami who is
“chairman of the boards”. My father Jeep sails on the Island Bird and has been sailing for most of his life, I hope to continue along with him. My sister-in-law Christine sails on the Edmee S. for the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum.
